Sanding

In order to produce high quality coated components, attention must be given to preparing the surface of the product. In the instance of timber or MDF profiles, we offer profile sanding machines which improve the quality of finish after the moulding machine by sanding with abrasive wheels or belts.

The PRO-SAND range of profile sanding machines are designed for use with sanding belts or abrasive wheels which are shaped in accordance with the shape of the profile to be sanded. The machines are precision manufactured from heavy durable materials to resist vibration and provide years of reliable service. Machines are typically supplied as 4 head, 6 head or 8 head units with further options available for flat or profiled belt sanding units. Usually, machines are supplied with automatic sanding wheel wear compensation, which maintains sanding pressure, whilst the wheel wears away during use. Sanding wheel units are placed in notches along the machines base and can be adjusted on 3 axis, so that the perfect alignment of the wheel to the substrate can be achieved.

In recent years, the use of flexible abrasive wheels has become more prolific, due to the very quick set-up times that can be derived from using these wheels. This has led to the develop ment of a new design of profile sanding machines – the UNISAND range – which features variable speed head motors and a simpler construction than traditional profile sanding machine.
